Patrick still not going anywhere, neither is Treasurer Tim

Gov. Deval Patrick continues to insist that he’s not D.C.-bound. During a press availability outside his office on Wednesday, Patrick commented that he was “enormously moved, excited, and proud” of President-elect Barack Obama’s historic achievement. But the governor, clearly tired of the question, said that he has never been asked about any position in the new administration.

However, Patrick didn't rule out a brain drain from other areas of his administration. “There are a number of talented people who I expect will be approached,” he said

Especially pleased with the decisiveness of Obama’s victory, Treasurer Timothy Cahill echoed those sentiments. “We may lose a few of our people both elected and unelected,” he said,  If good people can go to Washington and help the country, "then that’s a good thing for Massachusetts." Like Patrick, he didn't offer any clues as to those people might be.

But the treasurer also said he wouldn't be one of them. “My hope is to stay here in Massachusetts,” he said.

Good political instincts.

Gov asks Prez-elect: Will I be AG? No? That's Eric Holder? Okay.

Then position himself to take credit for staying, with stronger-than-before "I'm not going anywhere" language.
